About this project

Spotify wanted to bring users and artists closer to their communities.

So, using archived music and audio, we used AI to recreate the voices and songs of Afghan musicians who were tragically murdered and silenced by the Taliban regime, in order to raise awareness around the world.

Afghanistan is the only country in the world where music has been banned since the Taliban retook control in 2021. Our idea was to recreate, through archived music and audio, the voices and songs of Afghan musicians tragically killed and silenced by the Taliban regime, to never let Afghan music die.
